How it works
Selling your car to Calgary Car Buyer takes four steps. You call or text with the year, make, model and what's wrong with it, and we give you a price on the call.
If you accept it, we book the tow around your schedule - same day if you want, or next week. When we arrive we check the car matches what you described, prepare the bill of sale, and pay you in cash or by e-transfer before the vehicle goes on the truck. Towing is free anywhere in Calgary and never deducted from your offer.

How do I get a price for my car?
Call or text Calgary Car Buyer at (587) 330-3909, or fill out our form. You will receive a quote during the call.
Tell us four things:
-
What the car is - year, make and model. It's on your registration if you're not sure.
-
What's wrong with it - in whatever words you'd use. "It makes a noise and won't go into gear" is a perfectly good answer. You don't need the technical name for the fault.
-
Roughly the mileage - an estimate is fine.
-
Where it's parked - driveway, garage, back alley, condo parkade, street. This affects how we recover it, not what we pay you.
If anything about the situation is unusual - a lien, an estate, a car in someone else's name, an insurance write-off, a broken odometer - mention it now. None of them stop a sale, but they're worth knowing about at the start rather than at the door.
You don't need:
The VIN, service records, a mechanic's diagnosis, photos, or the car cleaned out. None of those change the number.
Fast & Easy
We just need the basics to give you a real number. Save your time and ours for the actual pickup.
What happens after I accept the offer?
We book the tow around your schedule, not ours.
There's no pressure to take a same-day slot. If you want the car gone this afternoon we'll try; if next Saturday morning is easier, that's fine. The number doesn't expire because you took a few days to think.
Before we come out we'll confirm:
-
When - a day and a window, not "sometime next week"
-
Where exactly - the address, and how we get to the car
-
Who'll be there - you, or someone acting for you
-
What to have ready - see below
You'll have the offer in writing by text, so there's a record of the number before anyone turns up.
What happens when the tow truck arrives?
This is the moment people are actually nervous about, and describing it plainly is worth more than any promise. In order:
The driver introduces himself.
You'll know who's coming before they arrive.
A quick look at the car.
Not an inspection designed to find problems - a check that the vehicle is what you described. This is the only point at which a number could change, and only if something is materially different: major components already removed, damage that wasn't mentioned, or a VIN that doesn't match.
Paperwork.
We check your registration and photo ID, and we prepare the bill of sale. You don't need to bring one - that's our job. You'll get a copy.
Plates come off.
They stay with you. Return them to a registry agent or move them to your next vehicle.
You get paid.
Cash counted in front of you, or an e-transfer sent and confirmed on your phone - your choice. This happens before the car is loaded, not after.
The car goes on the truck.
Once it's loaded, it's ours.
What do I need to have ready?
| Bring | Why |
|---|---|
| Registration document | Confirms you're entitled to sell it |
| Photo ID | Matches you to the registration |
| Keys | Both sets if you have them, one is fine, none isn't a dealbreaker |
| Plates removed | They stay with you - or we'll take them off on the day |
| The car emptied out | Once it leaves, anything inside goes with it |
Don't bother:
Cleaning it, repairing anything, or getting a diagnosis. None of it affects the price.
What happens after you take the car?
Ownership transfers to us the moment we pay you and load it. From that point:
The car is our responsibility
Storage, transport, whatever happens next - none of it involves you.
Your liability ends
Once ownership has properly transferred. Keep your copy of the bill of sale.
Deal with insurance and registration
Not before. Contact your insurer to cancel the policy or move it to your next vehicle. Cancelling early can leave a gap you don't want.
The vehicle moves on
Repaired and returned to the road if there's enough left in it, recycled if there isn't.
Do I have to be there when you collect it?
Usually not, but it needs arranging in advance.
Someone has to be there to hand over the keys and the paperwork, and payment has to go to the person entitled to it. That's straightforward if:
-
A family member or friend is handing it over on your behalf
-
The car is sitting at a relative's house
-
You're working away, out of province, or travelling
Contact us and we'll work out how to do it properly. What we can't do is collect a vehicle with nobody present and no paperwork.
What if something doesn't go to plan?
If the car isn't what was described
We'll tell you exactly what's different and what it changes, on the spot. You're free to decline - and it still costs you nothing, including the trip we've already made.
If you change your mind before the car is loaded
That's fine. No charge, no argument. You keep the car, we drive away.
If we can't physically get to the vehicle
Low-clearance parkades, blocked alleys and cars boxed in are usually solvable, but occasionally we need to come back with different equipment. That's our problem, not a cost to you.
If the paperwork turns out to be more complicated than expected
It happens - a lien that's more involved than it first looked, an estate that needs an extra document. We'll tell you what's needed and give you time to sort it. The offer holds.
Selling your car: process questions
You get a firm price during the first call, based on the year, make, model and condition of the vehicle. After that, timing is up to you - same-day pickup if you need the car gone right away, or scheduled a week or two out if that's more convenient.
No, there is no cost at any stage. The quote is free, towing is free, and neither is deducted from the amount you're paid. If you decide to decline the offer once we arrive, that costs you nothing either - there's no obligation to sell.
Yes, you receive documentation at two points. The offer is sent by text before we come out, so you have a record of the agreed price, and you're given a copy of the bill of sale on pickup day as proof of the completed transaction.
You get paid before the car is loaded onto the truck, not after. Payment is made in full, in either cash or e-transfer, whichever you prefer, so there's no waiting period and no payment sent after the vehicle has already left your property.
Non-running vehicles are one of the two most common types we collect, so this is completely routine. Our team brings the proper recovery equipment to load a dead or non-drivable car safely, and there's no extra charge added for a vehicle that can't be driven.
Yes, multiple vehicles can be sold together in a single visit. You'll get one combined price and one payment for the whole lot, which simplifies the process. Just mention the number of vehicles on your first call so we can send the right size of truck.
Long-sitting vehicles are also routine for us to collect. Seized brakes, flat or rotted tires, a dead battery, or a car sunk into gravel or grass are all common conditions we deal with regularly, and none of them prevent us from making an offer or completing pickup.
No, a second key is not required to sell your vehicle. One working key is perfectly fine, and even having no keys at all isn't a dealbreaker - our team can still complete the pickup and payment without them.
